Organic DIY Elderberry Syrup Kit, organic black elderberries, recipe card

I, personally, use an elderberry tincture. But if you're not into the rough taste of a high proof vodka to start out your day before work, SYRUP is the way to go! Great for kids and adults because it tastes pretty phenomenal. 

As Mary Poppins once sang, "A spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down!" And although the recipe card included in the kit calls for honey instead of sugar, the principle is the same... except better, because a high quality local raw honey is really quite good for what ails you.

In your kit, you'll receive: 

Organic black elderberries (sambucus nigra,) 

Organic cinnamon stick

Organic clove buds

Organic grated dried ginger

A recipe card designating how to directions for use and standard dosing instructions 

What you'll need at home:

Water

Heat source

Sweetener of choice (I prefer local raw honey. Keep in mind that children under 1 year are NOT to have honey) 

Container with lid

Refrigeration 

This is a very easy DIY kit and can be a great project to do with the kids. It's also highly rewarding since there's a good dose of YUM at the end. It makes for a good learning experience and fits in perfectly with a Montessori living style.

Dried, unused kit, can be stored in a cool dark location (hello cupboard) for up to a year. 

A prepared syrup should be kept in the fridge and used within 6-8 weeks. 

Syrup can be canned using a water bath or pressure canner at buyers own discretion.

Discard any syrup that has visible mold, has been stored incorrectly, or smells "off."
