Simply Frankincense Salve, resin balm, ethically created infused handcrafted salve

While I utilize Frankincense tears in some of my other salves and ointments, this is a no frills, very simple, frankincense only recipe. It allows the resin to shine and do its job unhindered. 

Your salve will be handcrafted in a small batch, as always. Frankincense "tears" are pieces of sap from the Boswellia tree, a small, thorny desert plant that is native to India, Arabia and northern Africa. The resin is collected by cutting into the tree bark and collecting the milky substance after it has hardened. 

No essential oils here! Each "tear" is ground by hand in my mortar and pestle, and infused slowly for a minimum of 6-8 weeks. We then strain and drain it multiple times through many layers of organic cheesecloth to ensure a clear infusion, free from sediment. After an order is placed, it is paired with local raw beeswax to create the perfect salve consistency, then hand poured, labeled, and sent your way.

We hand make all of our products to order in small batches to ensure optimal freshness, consistency, and potency. Our products are not made to sit on store shelves for extended amounts of time. Salves can last 1-2 years if stored correctly (in a cool, dry, and dark place) however, dirty hands touching the salve over time can speed up an expiration date. Once opened, herbal skin care products become exposed to dirt and microorganisms that are found in the air and on the skin. As soon as you open and begin to use any product, simply the way in which you use it will affect its lifespan. When using a salve, always use clean, dry, hands or fingertips, as this will assist in preserving a longer shelf-life.
